THE Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Rt Rev Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso has admonished churches to be more responsive to the real needs of their members to encourage them to be dedicated to the service of God. He observed that the church which ought to show the way is in most cases blind to the real challenges facing its members. Dr Frimpong-Manso stated these at the ordination of 32 ministers at the Trinity Congregation, Tema Community Four last Sunday. He said God needs ministers and Christians who would abandon earthly things, sin and corruption of heart and spread the message of Christ. He advised Christians not to give up easily on people or situations that remain unchanged for several years, adding that "God can change what seems unchangeable. Meanwhile, 25 ministerial probationers have been commissioned at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church at Tema Manhean. Dr Frimpong-Manso, who preached the sermon, urged Christians to exercise their faith in Christ by good works and service. He said daily prayer, scripture study, adherence to baptismal and sound Christian living were some of the aspects of growing up into maturity. Dr Frimpong-Manso said the church has a responsibility to encourage its members to make spiritual progress through their deeds and worship life, adding that "as we grow up into maturity we should desire more for spiritual things. |
