| Concordia University Choir In Ghana For Concert |

A 50-MEMBER premier concert choir from Concordia University from St. Paul, Minnesota in the United States of America is touring parts of Ghana. The tour which started from Monday, May 12 will end on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. The tour will include performances in Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi with excursions in the Greater Accra, Eastern, Central and Ashanti Regions. The group is in the country at the invitation of the Ghana Evangelical Lutheran Church. The delegation accompanied by Dr Cherly Chatma, the Executive Vice-President of the university, Dr David Mennicke, Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Music and Music Department Choir and Dr Paul Mueller, former Concordia Professor and current Regional Director for Africa Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (World Mission). Dr Mennicke and James Corey, the co-ordinator of the tour, had earlier visited Ghana in December 2007, and met with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the local organisers to discuss the details of the tour. According to Mr John Donkoh, the local spokesman and director of Lutheran Media Ministry, the choir appeared on Ghana Television Breakfast show programme on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. They will later visit the St Paul’s Lutheran School and participate in the school’s worship and perform in a concert in the evening at 6.30 p.m. Other places to be visited by the choir include; W.E.B. Dubois Library, University of Cape Coast Castle and Wesley Girls High School. The rest are Lake Bosomtwe, perform a concert at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Manhyia Palace and have private audience with the Asantehene. The choir will also have a walking tour in Krobo, visit a service project and perform a concert there. On Sunday, May 25, 2008 the group will organise an outdoor church service at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kwadaso and later perform a concert at Wesley Methodist Cathedral. The choir leaves Ghana for the United States on May 27. |
